The Anytime, Anywhere, No Equipment Necessary Cardio Burst

The burpee, also known as a squat thrust, is a powerful, quick and easy exercise that doesn’t require a lot of space or any equipment. It’s that easy. Do two sets of 10 and you’ve given yourself a quick, explosive burst that combines cardio, strength, endurance, and flexibility. What could be better?!

– Begin standing, feet hip width apart, arms down by your sides.

– Jump straight up in the air bringing arms over your head.

– Quickly bring your hands down on the ground, shoulder-width apart, and jump your legs back into a plank position.

– Jump your feet back in towards your chest and jump straight back up to the sky, reaching arms overhead.

You can easily modify the burpee to make it more or less challenging. To add intensity, add a push-up in when you are down in the plank position and/or jump higher, and/or increase your speed. To lower the intensity, walk  your legs back into the plank position and back in toward your chest rather than thrusting your legs back and forth. Either way, you are benefitting. Have fun!

    This one I like. I hadn’t done them in a while and was surprised how hard it was to pop my feet back under me.
